The Lunar New Year begins many celebrations. Many of these celebrations involve fireworks and other colorful displays to "scare away evil spirits." Many people visit ancestral tombs, participate in ceremonies to bring good fortune for the year, and play a variety of games.

  • Chuseok, or "Bountiful Abundance", is a time for families in Korea to return to their family's ancestral sites. Almost all workplaces and stores are closed for three days.
